Driving innovation in AI for healthcare: Owkin at the AI Action Summit

The Paris AI Action Summit was more than just a gathering of experts; it was a statement on the future of artificial intelligence, and healthcare was at its core. Owkin’s presence throughout the summit reflects our deep commitment to revolutionizing cancer research and precision medicine through AI.

It was no accident that the week began with the President of the Republic visiting Gustave Roussy on World Cancer Day. If there is one field where AI holds the most transformative potential, it is cancer research. That same day, driven by this conviction, Owkin and Servier brought together leading researchers and data scientists for a high-impact hackathon on glioblastoma, one of the deadliest brain tumors. By leveraging unique datasets including those from Owkin’s MOSAIC program - the largest spatial omics data set in cancer - participants worked in a warm, enthusiastic and studious atmosphere to crack the biology of this incurable tumor. The event was concluded by the Minister of Digital and AI, Clara Chappaz, reinforcing the national significance of AI-driven medical research.

Throughout the summit, Owkin was never far from the spotlight, shaping the discussions on the future of AI for healthcare. Jean-Philippe Vert, Owkin’s Chief R&D Officer, spoke at the scientific colloquium on AI in Saclay, presenting how foundation models and our Bioptimus initiative are unlocking new possibilities for medical research.

Owkin was also highlighted by the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, on national television as one of the most promising AI-driven companies in healthcare.

During the summit itself, at the Business Day in Station F at Grand Palais, Owkin was showcased as a key innovator, demonstrating how AI can transform drug discovery and patient care - our CEO Thomas was constantly on the spot, speaking and answering questions.

AI, Public Policy, and the Future of Precision Medicine

The prominence of healthcare throughout the Paris AI Summit confirmed a crucial fact: AI is not just a technological evolution; it is a public health priority. The President’s emphasis on AI’s role in cancer research and healthcare policy reinforces the urgency of integrating AI into national and global health strategies.

For Owkin, this summit was an opportunity to lead the conversation, drive collaboration, and showcase its potential in medicine. As we continue to build cutting-edge AI solutions, we remain committed to working alongside public and private partners to redefine how we fight diseases like cancer.
